Tzedek DC is mourning the loss of Irvin Nathan (Z”l), who passed away earlier this month.
Our annual Eat Well, Do Justice!® event held earlier this week allowed us as a community to express our deep respect and affection for this giant of a leader.
Board Chair Josh Levy noted: “This organization would not have existed without Irv Nathan, who led the board in its infancy and then some, bringing his spirit of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world, to the DC community.... Words cannot adequately express our gratitude and sorrow. There is no doubt that for Tzedek DC and the wider DC community, not only your name, Irv, but your deeds will forever be a blessing.”
Founding Director Ariel Levinson-Waldman said:
“A decade ago, having served with such distinction in the federal government and as DC Attorney General, and also as a Partner at Arnold and Porter for three decades, Irv so generously leaned into the Chair role at our founding.
Over a two-decade period and over three different jobs, Irv was my boss who became a mentor and friend and someone I came to revere and love.”
We are deeply honored that Irv's family has chosen Tzedek DC as an organization to receive gifts in his memory. We know that many members of our community will wish to learn more about the remarkable life and legacy he leaves behind.
